EVENT DESCRIPTION

Fast, flat at straight as can be! Introducing the Carnation Mile. This race, which benefits Jefferson Center, will be held along the Carnation Festival Parade route in Wheat Ridge on 38th Ave. from Depew St. to High Ct. Come relive your glory days or create new race memories!

Waves of up to 25 runners will start every 5 minutes beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the last wave taking off at 8:35 a.m. The first wave will be reserved for runners anticipating times of 5:30 or less, and the second wave will be reserved for runners anticipating times of 6:00 or less. The last waves will be reserved for race day registration s and runners with dogs and for families and strollers. If you have both a dog and a stroller you will be assigned to the family wave.

**Once you have been assigned to a wave you will not be able to change it**

The start line will be on 38th Avenue between Depew St. and Chase St. Our friends at SPENGA Wheat Ridge will help get the runners warmed up in the SPENGA warm-up zone.

The Wheat Ridge Grange board will be serving a pancake breakfast for a suggested $7 donation at the grange from 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The Grange is located by the Carnation Mile finish line on High Ct. For more information on the festivities go to thecarnationfestival.com.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

 Asphalt down 38th St.

DIRECTIONS TO THE RACE

The race will be run along 38th Ave. roughly between Sheridan Blvd. and Wadsworth Blvd. You can access either of those roads from I-70 or 6th Ave.

PARKING

To be sure that you are off the parade route, we suggest parking in these locations:

Near the start line - the King Soopers lot at 38th and Sheridan or Chase Plaza at 38th and Chase St.
Near the finish line: Stevens Elementary or the lots at 7200-7300 W. 38th.

DO NOT PARK ON AMES, BENTON OR CHASE ST BETWEEN 38TH and 35TH, AS THAT IS WHERE THE PARADE IS STAGED.

There will be no transportation between the start and finish so you will need to walk to your car. Please be respectful of the area residents and keep clear of all driveways.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Top three Overall male and female and male and female Masters (40 & Over) runners. The top male and female youth runners (18 & Under) will receive Goodr sunglasses.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

7:00 - 7:45 - Race Day Registration and race packets can picked up near the start line at 38th and Chase St. Everyone who registers on race morning will start in the final wave, regardless of projected finish time. Because of time restrictions, due to the parade, we cannot accept registrations after 7:45 a.m., so plan accordingly.
8:00 AM: 1st wave, then a wave every 5 minutes. Last wave at 8:35
Award Ceremony: 9:15 AM
