Welcome to the 9th annual running of the Falcon 50. This is the first time the race is open to the public. This event has 4 race distances/options: a 50 mile run, 26.2 mile run, a 26.2 military heavy ruck, and the newly added 13.1 mile run. Join us and help continue the legacy while discovering how far you are able to push yourself.
The Falcon 50 Race Series takes place on the Air Force Academy Reservation and in the surrounding mountains. It is a scenic and challenging route that will take its participants through some of the most beautiful and challenging terrain the Academy has to offer.
Photographers will be on the course and photos will be available to download after the race.
The Falcon 50 is an annual non-profit event created by USAFA cadets in 2011. It provides a great introduction into the trail running sport and gives participants a tour of the best and worst terrain on the Academy grounds. The race starts on Stillman Field and traverses the golf course, runs by the Falcon Stadium, and through the rolling hills of the Rampart Range of the Rocky Mountains. Come out and race for a very affordable price and contribute to a greater cause! All race proceeds are donated to the Air Force Sergeant's Association as well as Focus on the Family for their continued support for the military.
Heavy Marathon (26.2 miles with a 35 pound ruck)
The race is generally hilly and occurs on both paved roads (with dirt shoulders if that is preferred) as well as dirt trails around the Academy.
* Note on ultra-marathon division * The ultra-marathon is two laps of the marathon loop WITHOUT the mini-lap.
* Note on half-marathon division * The half-marathon is an out and back, NOT a loop.
* Note on marathon distance races (marathon and military heavy) * All marathon distance racers (marathon and military heavy participants) will do a mini-lap around Road 239, Aviator Dr, and Parade Loop and then go out on the course - this is to get the full 26.2 miles.

DIRECTIONS TO THE RACE
Enter the Academy through N. Gate Blvd (Opens at 0530). Make a left at Parade Loop until you reach Cadet Dr. Take a right here and there will be the cadet parking lot on the left. The race itself wil be held on Stillman Field, which can be accessed by taking a left on Rd 239 but there is very limited parking here.
We ask that participants please refrain from parking in the Stillman Field Lot (as it has been overcrowded in the past while the race is in progress) and please find a parking spot in the athletic fields. To access the fields, instead of taking a left at Parade Loop, continue straight on Academy Dr and take a left at the bottom of the overlook into the lots near the track.
